Oh Wyoming

Turns out, Wyoming is HUGE ... & HOT. Without a drive-up A&W in the middle of Nothingness, Wyoming* it would have been killer! After we crossed the Bighorn Mts, the temps got to 100F & it was 6 in the evening.

Redeeming about Wyoming: Devil's tower, Beth's first glimpse at 13,000+ ft peaks, A&W & (we'll see today) Yellowstone & Grand Teton.

Here's some pics:

Scott A-W - you mentioned horizons, but really ... I had NO idea! This pic is sketchily stitched together, but gives the gist of how insane it is to watch a storm pass to your left without getting a drop of rain.

Ha!

*Nothingness, Wyoming is not a real place

FYI - if we don't write in a couple days, we're not dead (hopefully) but away from places to steal internet from :)

Be careful but have fun! The heat has broken here in Alexandria - it's just 79 degrees at 6 pm today - hard to imagine you're dealing with higher temps in Wyoming than we are in VA.

Spending the summer in CPE in beautiful downtown Washington, I'm loving traveling with you vicariously in less stressful places!

well- i finally decided to catch up on all your adventures. I know you two are having a blast. Beth-- the temps you feel in Wyoming are only a smidgen of what New Orleans will be in August. However- I know there is lots of fun to be had. Watch out for the storms and continue to have safe and fun travels. I am looking forward to living my dreams out through your adventure, because Lord knows- I can't do that many days in the wilderness. I am a city girl at heart. Love to you both--

Oh fine, now I have to go drink root beer and remember the A&W's of my long passed youth! We are just back from Colorado where we managed to go to a Sonic (also a drive-in restaurant) within 45 minutes of landing in Denver.

We were just in Rocky Mountain National Park, kind of driving through and around a storm. Then it was gone, and everything we'd just seen looked completely different. A ranger at the Alpine Visitor Center there commented on this phenomenon: "well, we like to keep the weather right where we can see it!"

Praying for a continued good (and safe! No more lightning, thanks) trip for you both.

Hey Ladies, thanks for sharing your travels. It looks like you guys are having a fabulous time- keep living it up:) I'm back from Kanuga and working on revisions for 2 of the 3 papers and unpacking all my books. I start work on Sunday and I'm super excited:-) The pics are magnificent- I pray that you'll continue to keep receiving the blessings/graces/insights that seem to be "pouring" down in this trip. Love and miss you both. love, e

"Devil's Tower," "Crazy Woman Liquors," I sure hope your Mom and I don't have the same encounters in the Adirondacks with the church youth. I may have to watch where she goes when we go into town.

Your trip sure looks and sounds great. I'm glad you have the chance to do this while you are still young enough to enjoy God's world without killing yourself trying.

Am thrilled to be able to live vicariously through your excellent adventure! Am also happy to be able to refrain from doing the "mom thing" with worry...

My kids' advice? Eat whatever you want, whenever you want to... and change your clothes once a week...
(welcome to my world)
